Casse Déserte (Arvieux)

Access: Izord pass road between Cervières (Briançonnais) and Arvieux (Queyras), parking at the side of the road. The road is closed in winter.

This famous site which is often on the route of the Tour de France presents strange cargneule needles in different shapes. The scree at Casse Déserte, some 200 to 300 meters high, result from the fragmentation of limestone and dolomite outcrops at the Côte Belle crest just above.
